We Can See Through Time
We love bookkeeping because the past, present, and immediate future are all on display when we work with our ledgers. The financial data we handle shows us where a company’s money came from, what it’s doing now, and where it’s about to go. That kind of perspective is hard to get anywhere else.
Because we can see more of the timeline of a business, we can see more ways that things can go wrong. That means that we can also experiment with the possibilities, and discover what it would take for everything to go right. It lets us present our employers with real guidelines for their budget plans.
Bookkeeping Lets Us Have an Impact
We love bookkeeping for its dimension of letting us know everything about a company. That dimension also gives us quite a bit of power, though. It’s most often the good sort of power, where we can point out a disaster ahead of time, or identify a past trend that is affecting current performance.
We’ll admit that some bookkeepers use their power for personal gain, but only a few. Most of us are the most trustworthy people in any organization, and it feels good to be in such a position. It makes it possible for us to effect real change that can save a company.
We Love Bookkeeping Because We Get to Work With Numbers
This is the simplest and most basic reason that we love bookkeeping. At heart, we’re numbers people. We were the kids that always did well in math classes growing up. Numbers just “click” for us. We see patterns and possibilities. We’re analytical and detail-oriented.
